I always liked the idea of the runflats and feeling safer on motorways etc, bad MINI that hey will charge £75 for this privilege now!

These changes are bound to make the car worse - one string! That won't work properly and all of the other removals just make the car less luxurious. The fact is the mini is a very expensive small car - and is sold on the factor of quality. Removing little things such as these is just going to lower the car in terms of what people perceive. You get 2 strings on a fiesta for example! For what you'd pay for a decent spec cooper s, you could get a 3 year old range rover sport s/c! Ok it'd be 3 years old but still... Lot of metal for your money - and ok they're not the cheapest to run but...

Maybe they are putting the e-diff on the S? Then again how many people even use the e-diff bearing in mind it is only activated when all the traction control is turned off? I've never tried it on my JCW.

the e-diff is to combat the negative torque steer of the JCW. they'd have to re-engineer it to handle the torque characteristics of the S.

LOL at the string thing that is just pathetic! Like something Kia would do! Really each string must cost about 10p, on a production run of 250k a year, a saving of £25k. Or, about the same as my JCW cost.

Weird news on the runflats - so we have the R50/R53 which wasn't designed for runflats and got them now we have the R56 which was designed for runflats and now doesn't have them. Personally I have used runflats twice and really appreciated having them at the time.

On the upside, glad to see Harmon Kardon is back. But sadly too late for my new MINI. Though I have defended Hi Fi in the past, I have come to the inescapable conclusion that it's not very good. Might go see Mikey @ newministuff

I am shocked at the one string. That's really sad. I have an OCD for symetary too. Luckily, my hatch has 2 strings and 2 balls. and the only new one up for consideration is an R57 so I need not worry about strings in that.

I can't work out if Pure Silver is going to still be available on the JCW hatch clubbie and cab??? AND I was under the impression that White Silver was going to make more of an apperance across the range (not just the Camden/Mayfair modles) Why the hell is Sparkeling Silver being put on the JCW.... it's a Honda Civic 5 door colour!!! Not a hot hatch colour... Grrrrr

I'd love to sit and talk to the idiots that make these decisions. If my fears are confirmed and there is not only no proper blue, but also no silver/white silver on the JCW's then I'll be deffinatly be buying something else
