Default Buying a GPII - 18th May 2015, 05:19 AM

Hello all. I used to own a heavily modified 2009 JCW. The car had many performance upgrades including cat delete and full Alta exhaust system. This made the car extremely loud when going on motorway journeys etc and resulted in constant complaining from my wife whenever we used the car on any kind of road trip.

I am now about to purchase a lightly used GPII with only 13000 kms on the clock. The car is in perfect condition. The car does not have the Kumho tyres on it. Instead it has Pirelli P Zeros which are much more suited to the weather conditions where we live. My question is this: How is the GPII as a daily driver? The car I am purchasing is totally stock. Is there any drone from the exhaust at motorway speeds? We don't have children so a 2 seater fits the bill for us but the noise level complaints from my wife is something I have to consider. Thanks in advance.

the sound of the exhaust is exactly the same with a fjcw....which is ok imo!

It will be just like your old fjcw was when it was stock in terms of noise... OEM cars are so tame that there should be no complaints from the mrs if you get one - well not until you start modifying it of course

Would be interested to hear more about your 'heavily modified' jcw...

I've had mine for coming up to 2 year and do about 8000 miles per year.
First 12-15 months were great.

Novelty has worn off now though - it's going!

I'd love too but unfortunately in the process of up sizing house wise and simply can't afford 2 cars.

To be fair it's not the noise I have a problem with, more the ride and I've suddenly got old and want an auto!

Ahh fair enough dude.

Funny, I am in a similar boat in regards to ride - wishing the comfy barge I got the mrs recently was more barge like and an auto too, especially as its diesel. Should have gone 330d touring auto as I originally wanted...

Good man, I'd love to get one at some point. Pretty much the cheapest MINI to own if you do sensible miles and consider depreciation.
