Default Good and bad - 13th January 2017, 09:13 PM

Well, had my '12 plate JCW for just under a month. It's been great, until about 10 days ago when it started to misfire, sometimes stalls and what seemed like a lack of fuel on start up (the bad). Once it warmed up it was fine.

But the good is the way that both the dealer (it's an approved used) and mini assist have handled it so far. The dealer booked it in to be looked at tomorrow morning, and then suggested that i call mini assist to help with getting the car to them (i live 40+ miles from them).
So, I give MA a ring and they get a BMW engineer to my house within an hour. Of course, the car starts and runs fine, then, as he walks to the van, has a splutter and nearly stalls. He links it up, no faults so agrees to take it to the dealer.
Then within 10 mins Enterprise car rental call me and say that they're trying to source a temporary replacement mini for me and it'll be with me by the end of the day. They delivered a brand new cooper d auto before 5pm.

So, so far so good. I'm just hoping that the dealer doesn't try and fob me off with any 'there's nothing wrong with it' rubbish.

Using the interweb, it is possibly an issue with the High pressure fuel pump?

Exactly what I was going to suggest!

Hpfp is well known issue on all BMW (had the very same on a 335i e91), starts are the biggest indicator, any more than your usual 2-3 turn overs before it fires are a giveaway... it is intermittent at first, comes and goes, then one day I had full limp mode and CEL... glad to say BMW assist were as excellent as you describe Mini to be.

Interestingly, (Chandlers the dealer I used) said it would be 10 days if I limped the car to them or maximum of 2 days if I rang BMW assist and booked in via them! It literally gets you to the front of the queue and they have to diagnose the fault within 48 hours and fix where possible.

Hope it's a quick fix for you.

R60 Cooper S auto, Pure red, chilli, media and light packs. Harman Kardon. Lots of mods to come.....

Had the dealer call me today. The car refused to start (or started but wouldnt run) so they had to push it into the workshop. Then the diagnostic check showed no faults.

So, he said they've ordered a new HPFP and hopefully they'll deliver the car back to me tomorrow.

So far I really can't fault the service I've had from Mini, both the dealer and mini assist.
