Default Hi all, bought a 5 door cooper today - 9th September 2016, 09:01 PM

Hello everyone, had a trip to sytners at sheffield today to have a look at minis after my missus said she fancied a Fiat 500

After about 2 and half hours we left having ordered a ex demo 5 door cooper petrol

Not seen the car in the flesh yet (only pics) What i know about it upto now-

Chilli red with sports body kit
Black roof/wheels
Full black leather interior (red bits on doors/dash)heated front seats
Chilli pack
Led headlights
dealer fitting nav F.O.C
excitement pack
heated front screen
visual boost radio
mini connected (whatever that is??)
privacy glass
2000 deposit from dealer

Not picking it up till next thursday, but can't wait. I won't get to drive it much but will seem like a roller-skate at the side of my car

Brace yourselves for a flurry of stupid questions
Paul

Collected it to day and its brill, had an afternoon driving it before giving it to the missus when she gets home from work. Love it, complete contrast to my car and a hoot to drive

Due to needing a larger car this is now up for sale. Its only done 14500 miles and gets very little use since we had our new baby last year

Congrats on the arrival of the little one. Stay with MINI and trade it in for a larger Clubman or the Countryman.

yes our Countryman is easily big enough for our 10 year old twins plus another.... easily the best family car we've had as the others are all so boring to drive!

R60 Cooper S auto, Pure red, chilli, media and light packs. Harman Kardon. Lots of mods to come.....

Thats another option. At the moment we have 3 cars-
2011 BMW X5 40d- that we used as a weekend/holiday car when there was 4 of us
2016 MINi cooper 5 door- Missus's car
2008 Nissan navara-My everyday work car

my missus has been using my X5 a lot more recently due to being able to get all the clobber in. But then we then need something much bigger for family holidays (usually to the ski slopes) when all 5 of us go and the dog/luggage!! Like my old Discovery 4

So as i see it i have a few options

1- Sell the mini, let her have the X5 and buy a bigger 4x4 (discovery 4/Q7 etc)- Downside is that there will still be 3 cars to tax insure and run
2- Sell the mini, sell the navara buy a newer plusher work truck with a canopy that can double as a weekend/holiday car and let her have the X5 (just have 2 cars) -Downside is being able to keep the work truck clean enough to be able to use at the weekends/holidays
3-Sell the Mini, Sell the X5 keep the navara buy one nice car that missus can use and be big enough for hols etc- Downside is that to get something big enough to do everything would cost her a fortune to run everyday and be a nightmare to park when she goes back to work after maternity leave in may

The other thing to consider is that our daughter is 17 in a few weeks and she is wanting to drive and will no doubt want a car so parking at home will be a nightmare unless we thin the fleet!

No decision is straight forward. The ideal situation would be to sell everything, get her something like a discovery sport or similar and me get a newer pickup with a canopy that can be used everyday. At least then when the daughter gets her own car there will be somewhere to park it

You sound very similar to me Marsie...

We had 3 vehicles too and it was getting silly.

I had a 6.1 litre v8 SRT Jeep that I tuned and modded and worked out of. We loved that thing but with 4 children and 3 dogs the wife had to drive a MPV as her daily which was a bit inpractical.

3 cars was becoming stupid to run so I reluctantly sold the Jeep and I now have a 6 seat double cab Custom which is big enough for my work and also allows us to go away with 6 bikes all the luggage we could ever want a canoe etc etc

We now have the mini as my wife’s daily which she absolutely loves and to be honest so do I.

Our new countryman is being collected a week today.

Our 2 boys rarely come out with us daily or at weekends but we still holiday as a family with bikes . I can’t tell you how good the Ford is at swallowing everything. I have a pop up roof rack but haven’t even had to use it!

It has allowed us to run 2 vehicles, we love the Mini, my wife is happy, I’m happy.... it’s taken years to get our vehicles right but finally I think we are there.

I will be adding the manic map to the CM and it’s switchable so when I drive it will be circa 250... she never gets out of green mode!

I can thoroughly recommend the CM as a family daily.... such a rewarding drive compared to the hundreds of MPV’s out there... believe me! I think we have tried most of them over the years.
