Default Iphone 7 Armrest Cradle - 8th September 2017, 04:25 PM

Hi all,

Done a search but couldn't find much on what I want to know, hence post.

Have 2017 MCS with enhanced Bluetooth fitted. I was thinking of getting the snap in armrest cradle for my iPhone 7 (I know, should have got it when I bought the car...) but it's around £165-185!

So, I was wondering if anyone has one of these and if they are worth it and if they can be bought cheaper from elsewhere than my local Mini dealership, please?

I suppose some would say it's pointless having the enhanced Bluetooth without one but the enhanced Bluetooth option came at no more cost due to the other options I added when building/buying i..e chill pack, armrest etc so I kept it.

Any info welcomed.

Why do you think you need the armrest adapter? If you have enhanced bluetooth, you can already connect to the car, stream music and use the phone hands free. Is it just to charge the phone?

Thanks for the reply.

Yes to charge plus it will remove messy usb cable that often gets in the way and will be all round neater and get better signal as connected to antenna.

So, have you got one and if so where did you get it and for how much, please?

That makes sense.

No I have not got one, I prefer to use a vent mount so I can use Hey Siri functionality to read text messages etc. I don't charge the phone in the car.

I looked on the MINI website today and it looks like they have a generic iPhone adapter, that is a lot cheaper, £92.50. Helpfully it doesn't say which iPhones it is compatible with.

If you have all the media options like I do.
You will find the in the menu "office" that reads and can reply text messages without the need touch or look at your phone.
A cradle is just to hide wires so pointless in my opinion. I have a 0.5m cable that lets me sit my iPhone in the cup holder. But you don't need it since the car can do it all.
You can even press and hold the speech button on the steering wheel to use Siri too.
Plenty of functions

Thanks for that Jordan.

As the Mini office setup isn’t compatible with IPhone 7 I don’t have that facility unfortunately so having cradle won’t change that....as I’m sure you know, not connecting the phone via a cable means you can’t access Spotify playlists, albums, mini connected etc which I use a lot.

From you post I take it you don’t have one. But, to help with the question posted did you think of having one and if so what was the best price and where, please?

For your car to read the messages you need to enable it on your iPhone.
I have the 7 and it works.
Then reply using the speech button I said above.

I always found ebay the cheapest place to buy one. Or try Cotswold mini on here by emailing them with your request and reg number

Thanks for that.

The Mini Dealership couldn't get mine to work for some reason, they hooked up a Samsung phone to it no problem though, any pointers as someone who has done it would be welcomed :-)

Ok, will take a look at eBay and Cotswold as you suggest. Thanks for your help.
