Default Mobile Phone Compatible Models - 21st May 2018, 10:09 PM

Hi, total newbie so not sure if Iím posting this in the right place. I have ordered a Mini One, and have had one on a 48hour test drive. My question. I have an iPhone 8, but donít use it on my day to day commutes to work. I work in a rough area and donít want to risk it. So for many years Iíve been using a cheap Nokia phone that has voice dial which has worked with Bluetooth with other cars Iíve had but didnít work with the Mini I test drove. I have checked the compatibility list and it seems that the compatible phones on the list are expensive ones. Does anyone know of any cheap phones (under £100) that would work with Bluetooth in the Mini. It is the 2018 model that I am getting.

With your old NOKIA phone being Bluetooth compatible it should work from....

a basic setup....

to an advanced set up.

Current
2013/13 Mini Roadster 2.0 Cooper SD.
2016/16 Mini Countryman 2.0 Cooper SD All4.

Thanks. The mini one that I test drove did connect the Nokia phone but I couldnít voice dial with it (pressing the phone button on the steering wheel) when I pressed the button the sound was coming from the phone instead of the car speaker. If I made a call the sound came through the phone again, but at random times it did come through the car speakers and the person I called could hear me. It was hit and miss but more miss than hit.

Signal dropping issue here, I would wait for your new MINI to arrive and try it on there in case there is an issue with your NOKIA due to the age. Plenty of modern compatible phones for under £100 with Bluetooth to choose from, a good range in Argos.

My Nokia works with my current car (corsa 2015) so I think it is more of a compatibility issue with the mini. I was hoping there would be some current cheap phones that would definitely work using voice dial that aren’t on the mini official list (as they are expensive to use for work)

To see how how helpful your dealer is, drop them a line to get hold of ‘product genius’. They should be able to help by trying it out on a MINI at the dealership. Let us know how you get on.

Hope you get it to work, Iím sure itís possible.

Although iím not understanding how the iPhone 8 is a risk where you work but the 2018 mini isnít?

Itís easier to nick a Mini than it is an iPhone 8. Even the FBI canít access the iPhone (apparently)
