Default I'm back! Just ordered my fourth! - 4th November 2016, 04:47 PM

Hi,

After a 2.5 year hiatus I'm back to Mini and have just chopped my V8 M3 in for a new JCW (manual) in White Silver with red roof!

I've specc'd those lovely two tone 18's and the red/grey part leather "recaro" style Seats which I loved.

Full spec is media pack xl, chilli, head up display, dynamic damping, HK sound, PDC rear, heated screen, heated seats dimming mirror, auto lights, chrome interior, tinted glass, armrest

It's such a grown up car in terms of refinement and interior quality compared to my R56 JCW, and it's imho ahead of BMW for tech.

And I was seriously tempted with the auto...

I look forward to getting reacquainted

How was your time in the M3?
I nearly swapped my R53 for one but went with a GP instead but still have that hankering for a revvy V8...

Oh man! Words can't describe that machine, I believe it to be one of BMWs greatest ever achievements. The engine is truly sublime and sounds like nothing else on full chat! I love it!

But it costs me 80% of my mortgage all in....which is just plain wrong and I'm sick of being broke, so oddly the JCW is a cost save

Add to that the fact it's first service was 1000 and it needs tyres soon (700) and brakes in the next year (750+) that's easily 3k with a four wheel alignment and detail that it needs......

Oh and it needs the BMW warranty extending which would be 80/month, they wear out bearings. One guy got a bill for 25k at the main dealer to repair his engine lol

Just as another example - generic air filter from Euros is 40 :/

Running a road going racing V8 isn't cheap!

Ouch! I knew I'd be spending a lot on one but had man mathed it to not be quite so ruinous!
Glad I went with the Mini which is still bloody quick for the outlay and running, it just misses that sparkle that a huge engine gives you

Hasn't stopped me looking at TVR Tuscans though!

Yeah I mean I've been a bit unlucky with how it's all fallen, but it's stil 18mpg and 55/month tax.
