Default Spacers - 16th February 2017, 04:05 PM

Hi guys about to pick up a S210 JCW comes on works 17s thinking of giving it a wider stance thoughts please and comments on size and handling after this is done
Also wanting red callipers any ideas where to do this I'm in NW Preston

For the calipers why not DIY with Smooth red Hammerite or similar?

Adding spacers will widen the track and make the car feel less stable/more pointy. I don't have a 3rd gen but I imagine, given the relatively modest tyres and the wheel gap, that you could run 11, 12 or 13mm spacers just fine.

Calipers can be DIY'd but Hammerite tends to burn and go black in my experience, you'd be better off with high temp caliper paint. Not so hard, but it takes a day, 4 stands, wheels off, lots of wire brushing, and waiting for the various layers of paint to dry... easier in the summer!

I've just ordered some for my f56 JCW so can't comment on handling yet but I've gone 12mm front and 15mm rear which seems to be the popular choice.


2016 F56 JCW, CR/B, CHILI/TECH/MEDIA, PAN ROOF+RAILS, SUN PROTECTION GLASS, HEATED SCREEN+SEATS, ADAPTIVE DAMPERS, JCW PRO FRONT SPLITTER+MIRROR CAPS+MATS............

I've got 12's all round my R55 and it looks very good. Not too wide, but obviously 'different'.
Do the brakes yourself and save some money, but only if you have the kit to lift it properly and safely, and the space to work in. You can get a kit from Amazon by E-tech, I think they're called, and it comes with everything you need in it.

Having looked where you are based the brakes must run much higher temperatures than in the UK
Not had a problem in the UK with Hammerite but I have used other Hi temp products as well with good results.
