MINI Icon Blue To Pace(man) or not to Pace????? - 15th August 2017, 09:03 AM

Hi!
I'm a newbie to the site, however, I have a mini one so not a complete mini newbie.
My question is, I'm really interested in the Paceman (originally I was looking at a countryman) but after taking a look (not test drove as yet) I think the Paceman suits my lifestyle more. HOWEVER, I'm concerned of resale value in years to come as it is now, for want of a better word 'obsolete'
Comments could be very welcome please
Nikki

I would think that eventually it may become more valuable than the mainstream stuff, just because it was odd and quirky...

Although a niche model, I would say go for it. They do work out cheaper than a Countryman and being introduced from 2013 they have the facelift dashboard with window switches on the door and tweaks to the engine. My suggestion is, if your budget can stretch, opt for a well specced example with chilli, media, xenon lights and leather to make it more desirable when selling on. My last two Countrymans were highly specced and they sold within weeks.

Yes, this

Lets face it, a Mini is not a car bought with one's head. Buy what you think is best for you and enjoy it.

i was in the same boat thinking the paceman vs clubman. already had a clubby so thought a change might be good.

the thing to remember is, the 1.6litre engine in the cooper S although capable.. will struggle to return good fuel economy because of the heavier car compared to the hatch and the extra weight if you go for the all4..
the prices are cheap at the moment when you compare them to the other models.. and tbh their value will only go down like all cars, so who cares?
if it has the right spec it will always sell..

Get a manual. 20mpg difference and capable of more torque if programmed.
