Icon7 Countryman in Sussex - 16th August 2017, 09:00 AM

Hi all,

Well I have gone and done it. Last Sunday I went to my local Mini dealership and after a test drive put down a deposit on a Cooper Countryman British Racing Green with Black roof and rails, just the standard 1.5 / 3 cyclinder, automatic job. I have ordered the Chilli pack (obviously) with cross punch leather, heated windscreen, darkened glass, sunroof, sliding rear seats, spare wheel and a couple of other things I have forgotten in the excitement. Things I didn’t order were the lounge seats – a bit wide for my narrow frame, the electric tailgate – tested it in the showroom with a bag of tissues and it still closed, so not a good idea for when my dog is in the back, in case her tail is hanging out, the uprated music sytem – the standard one is good enough for me and finally I did not go for the Media XL package as the standard sized Sat-Nav is big enough I think and I don’t need the Hard Drive.

I have been looking to change my daily driver, a Suzuki Jimny, for some months and set myself a budget of around £23k, that went well and truly out of the window when the bits were added on. I looked at many other cars as my main criteria was to accommodate my dog without having to remove the rear seats which is what was necessary in the Jimny, On the list were Peugoet 2008, Renault Captur, Mazda CX3, Honda Jazz, Vauxhall Mokka X, and Fiat 500L. The Fiat came nearest as I like its retro style as I seem to always go for querky and unusual cars, but the Mini won hands down.

I also have a sports car for my weekend fun so get my adrenaline rush that way – hence the standard Cooper is all I need for the day to day driving.

I am going on the factory tour during my babys build time and hope to take delivery sometime towards the end of September – getting impatient already.

Good choice! My parents just swapped their Clubman Cooper SD for a 5-door Cooper and thats a cracking little engine

British Racing Green is definately the best colour, though I may be biased.

Out of interest...whats your sports car?

Dave

Hi DaveB1981, Yes, I liked the Green, not many about. My sports car is a Nissan 370Z. It's the 40th anniversary model from 2010 with the red interior.

Welcome, hope you enjoy the cooper. We love our countryman and it accommodates our 2 dogs surprisingly easily ( on shorter trips). While near the dealership the other day we looked at the new CM and noted the boot to be appreciably bigger than our now older model, so we may change when we see a nice spec ex demo.... must be the S for me though as I got an offer on my adrenaline weekend car I couldn't refuse.....

Enjoy the new car

R60 Cooper S auto, Pure red, chilli, media and light packs. Harman Kardon. Lots of mods to come.....

I only have one dog - a GSD, but she's quite big. I really liked the sliding rear seat, it makes quite a difference to the available space.

It was born this morning and came off of the production line. Should be at the dealer by the 11th Sept - when I am on holiday - poo. I will have to wait until the 23rd to pick it up.
Now I am getting really excited.
