Default New member - garage dispute question !! - 23rd October 2017, 04:17 PM

Hello all !!

New to the forum - So Hi !!

Im having a bit of a rubbish time with a garage ive had to use for some repairs. If anyone has any advice i would really appreciate it !

Car was overheating ( never actually broke down just warning lights) took it into garage who had it a 2 weeks before giving it me back saying it must have been water pump and they had changed it.

Drove the car away... it overheated. Drove the car back to garage who shrugged and said ' must need a new radiator then'. Another week passed and i phoned for an update ( they have never contacted me) they told me they didn't know when i could have the car back and they were too busy to talk.

Finally after 3 weeks got the car back. The bill has arrived ... 700.

Water Pump: 27:84
Radiator: 185
Drive Belt: 12.92
anti freeze: 7.96
Labour: 350

Im not disputing the parts, i am disputing the labour. I've been told by other garages and friends that this should have been a 3 hour MAX job. The labour doesn't seem right for a 3 hour job that took them 3 weeks to complete.

I will hold my hands up if im wrong, but with so many people telling me they are taking me for a ride - i need some advice !!

thanks all

welcome to the forum, sorry to hear about all that. I have had bad episodes too and wanted to know what my rights were and how to proceed. I rang the trading standards consumer help line, probably the best people to help you in this situation and a good place to start.
