Default I need another gear knob!! - 28th October 2017, 02:12 PM

Hi All, I pick up my 2003 black Cooper next Wednesday - very excited ( even at 74!) The gear knob (5 speed) is horribly worn and nasty. OE replacements are expensive and my wife would like a polished alloy one instead. Any advice on suitable replacements, or does anyone have an original one in good condition for sale? My first post on the site! 😄

Welcome to tM and to the MINI community. Ebay is your best option, there are a number of polished alloy types ranging from £10.

You could order a steel knob from Doug Whalen over in the US. He can add whatever design you want.

whalen all the way for me, had them on all of our MINIs. They were always pricey (but quality is), but I'm sure these days the por exchange rate won't help.

You may find a user selling one, but many keep them even after their cars are gone. Note gen 1 and gen 2 cars have a different fitting.
