Hi all.
In January bought a 2010 R57 S auto, pepper white, chili pack, dab, heated seats, full black leather, media pack, nav, etc., etc.

Only done 21k. With full BMW history and looks immaculate so should be all good. All the paperwork including the original invoice. AND I LOVE IT !

Returning to Minis at the ( should know better ) age of 68 after a 25 year break.

The last mini we had and one we should have kept was RSP S No.1 straight from John Cooper himself and the car’s still well known in mini circles.

Our 3 daughters all started out with minis - we had 5 at one time - did all the club events including daughters 1 & 2 doing the IJ in their own RSP a couple of times. In all, looking forward to getting back into it.

One small ‘niggle’ with the R57 I’d like some assistance with please -

With the hood down the boot locks and I can find no way of opening it. The hood windows, door locking etc. all work perfectly as they should.

Any comment on this would be great thanks.

Best regards to all.

I’ll do some pics when I get a brighter day.

Good to hear from you - thanks.

I’ll try the points suggested on the boot locking - when it stops raining !

It seems like a good ‘find’ & drives beautifully - roll on summer.

It’s completely standard at the moment and I look forward to learning more about things before I start ‘tinkering’ - I like tinkering.

My daughters got an R52 S and she’s encouraged me somewhat - and the grandchildren think I’m now very cool !

Cheers, Ray.

Hi Ray
Sounds like a nice MINI you got there.
And you're right, you should really have kept the RSP. Have you seen the prices of them now?!
We have a classic Mini 30, a black one. Has exactly the same interior as the RSP except for the 'Cooper' tags on the seats and steering wheel. Not quite the same power though haha.

As you know MINIs continue to be lovely cars both in terms of bursting with ‘cool’ character and for modding. One common fault with convertibles can be the roof mechanism freezing, here’s a helpful video on how to rectify it:

Hi Paul,
According to the Autocar road test of our actual RSP S on 8th May 91 it produced 78 BHP and 0-60 in 11seconds which was a bit better than the standard 30. The 30 was a nice package & friends of ours had the full Cooper S pack fitted to their black one which livened it up a bit but cost nearly £2k back then.
Just a bit of nostalgia - but it was great fun while we had it.

Thanks for the roof video - I’ll keep it on file just in case !
My daughter got caught out on the parcel shelf switch on her R52 - turns out one of the kids had moved it but initially total panic when the roof wouldn’t open.
