Default Seat Change - 19th May 2018, 04:06 PM

Afternoon all; I will be swapping the interior seats on my son's Mini 2006 R53 One D soon. Fairly straight forward job I think, but any hints or tips on the airbag/pre tensioners please? The seats coming out are cloth, half leather going in from an R53, so no compatibility issues but should I disconnect the battery first? Will the airbag light come on after the swap? If so, how do you reset? Thanks.

Straight forward swap but definitely disconnect the battery as any accidental switching of the ignition whilst seats are out will set the airbag light off. Just make sure you got the right sized Torx bits before you start.

Thanks both; yes, I took the seats from the donor car and most definitely nothing but a T40 will do for the job. They are a nice set of seats though to be fair and very little if any bolster wear which is a real bonus. It was mainly the airbag lights I was concerned about but your reassurances are most welcome, thanks.

Just a quick update, followed all the advice, disconnected the battery, unclipped the airbag and pre-tensioner plugs under the seats, swapped everything over, re connected the plugs, then reconnected the battery, hey presto, no warning lights :-)
