Default Passenger Door Handle / Lock - 30th May 2018, 07:00 AM

Morning chaps; the passenger door handle mechanism on my sons 2006 Mini has stopped working. It operates from the inside when the release lever is pulled but not from outside when the handle is depressed? The central locking actuator is working as the lock tab does pop up and down with the fob button instructions, so some sort of cable issue? Any ideas? Thanks.

That is an interesting clip thank you; I think with his, it is the actual cable that attaches to the handle itself which must have snapped or come out somehow. I did take the door panel off for all look but couldn't really see anything obvious. All the cables in view look fine, but you can't see the one that is attached to the actual handle itself where it actually joins. Compared to the drivers door however, there is very little pressure needed on the passenger side to compress the door latch/handle and it does not work the door at all. The inside handle however does work it fine?

Is the external lever on the handle difficult to press or loose? This is a common problem on the Gen2 thanks to a bad design.

This is the lever I am referring to:

Thanks again; no, quite the opposite in fact, there is very little resistance when I squeeze the handle now, it goes in with just finger pressure, so my deduction is there must be a cable of sorts attached directly to the back of the 'trigger' handle which I can only assume has snapped?

It turned out to be the cable that had snapped inside. Had to buy a complete 'unit' from BMW, with all the end attachments etc. Fiddly, fiddly, fiddly. Anyway, fixed now. Cheers all.
