Battery Problems

This month I have been stuck with my MINI twice and have no idea why.
The first time the car had been sitting for 2 days without being used, got in put in the key fob thing and pushed start, the steering lock didn't disengage and it told me so on the display. The car would do nothing else, I hooked up jumper cables and the car started instantly without even a wait. been driving around for three weeks without a problem.

Second time same scenario except the car was only sitting for one day.
I decided to hook up a battery tester after I got it started and it says the altenator ckecks out and is charging the battery.

Any Ideas?

Is there a drain on it?

Test for one, that's probably the best place to start. Any aftermarket anything tapped into power?

Re: Battery Problems

With the recent cold snap I would say the battery is past it's best.

I'll get around to it when I can. Yes I have aftermarket tap on the 12V but it is off when the ignition is off, so that's not it.

Thanks Dave but the Battery is much less than a year old considering the car is new and was always charged when I left it, cold weather does not damage a charged battery. I wonder if OBD shows charging voltage and such i'll hook it up this weekend and look.

Yeah will do but can't really be without a car right now and the local dealer is an idiot so I need to go to one an hour away.

You have MINI ASSIST right? Let it keep happening, and then on the second or third time get them to take it to the dealer and bring you a courtesy car!
