oh also the car sits just a little lower because of the decrease in the size of the tyre.
the 205 45's are pretty close to the 195 55 runflats I had in terms of comfort, which was definitely enough for me. However, unfortunately the sidewall stiffness is about the same too. I was hoping that although 205 45's are not runflats, they would still be stiffer than the 195 55's. Actually, the stiffness might have improved just a little bit, and I feel the handling is a bit less predictable closer to the limit. However, this might be because at the moment the new tyres haven't been on the car for a long time, I hope that their grip will improve as I run them in a little bit more, and that the tyres will lose grip more gradually ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

In addition to the above, I can say that compared to the 205 45 17 runflats that were on the r56s, 205 45 non-runflats are really really comfortable...
and although the 215 40 17's you ordered have smaller sidewalls, they should still feel better than what you have now, I think you'll appreciate the change on the country lanes! When (if) I go with 17 inch wheels in the future, I now know that I would be very comfortable with 205 45 17 conventional tyres, or may be even think about 205 40 17's. (I do not really want to go wider to 215's and waste any more of my precious&mighty 108 horses! ![]() ![]() )Quote:

I forgot to mention that when I put the 205/45/16's on, instead of the stock 195/55/16's after a few days, the TPMS gave a warning. After checking my tire pressure, and reading how the TPMS works, I realized that this is due to the smaller diameter. Because the diameter is smaller and the wheel makes more revolutions, TPMS thought it had to be a flat tyre. Anyways, after a reset to the trip computer, everything's fine.
Also over the past weekend, I had my brakes replaced with the original R56 cooper S brakes, as my friend was upgrading to a much more serious R56 JCW big brake kit! 316mm! So I have now upgraded from 280mm to 294mm and new pads. I didn't have a chance to really test it. I think there has to be 'some' difference! I believe this should be the most stopping power I'll need for my one may be I might go for stainless-steel brake lines and dot 5.1 brake fluid to improve the brake feel...

don't say that!
I am trying not to think about getting wheels at the moment ![]() but yes, I must admit I have my eyes on teamdynamics prorace 1.2's so you're right on the money! I was thinking about whether I should get 16's or 17's and whether I should get matte black or glossy black? I think I might go with matte black 17's... what do you think? |

They are awesome wheels and would look great on your car!
I'd probably stick with 16's seeing as you have new tyres already. Or you could go to 17's and stick the 16's on for winter. I'd go gloss, because your car is black and I think matt will look a bit odd.

I must admit that I have yet to see them in matt black...
![]() But I thought it might look good. Have you seen them in matt black? And anthracite and matt black are not the same on these wheels, right? |
