Icon9 Mini one 1.4 08 80000 emissions fail - 12th May 2018, 09:17 PM

Hi Hope you can help!
My mini has failed its emissions:
CO LEVEL at Idle .61%
Lambda at idle 1.04
HC level at idle 524ppm!!!! I have been informed the mixture is running very rich and could be the crankcase ventilation system? map sensor? Lazy cat?
The car has had resent oil/filter air filter change
Thanks

Hi, welcome to tM. Was it a short drive to your test centre? Before looking at anything mechanical, its good practice to take car for a 30 minute high speed run before the test. It’s also advisable to fill up with higher premium fuel which contains cleaning agents or add fuel treatment (Carclean). Mechanically, the 02 sensors is usually replaced first before looking at the components you mention.

Thatís a shame I was hoping for a quick fix for you! Unless it has thrown up error codes, I would focus on the O2 sensor which sometimes doesnít show fault codes: my friendís son had slow starting issues on his Corsa before it completely broke down. No error codes shown and he replaced the 02 sensor and it resolved everything and no issues passing its recent MOT either.
