Default Karl's totalBOSS Park Lane, and W11R50 track car build thread - 26th February 2016, 04:20 PM

Clutch has started to chatter on my Park Lane Cooper so am going to change it next weekend.

5 speed box is going and I am going to drop my spare 6 speed in so have the following parts to go in while I'm at it -

6 speed Getrag, driveshafts, starter motor and shifter (with stainless gear knob I had made)

Valeo single mass flywheel conversion kit

Redline MTL transmission fluid

Powerflex engine mounts taken out of my S (will be using vibra technics on that instead)

Powerflex wishbone bushes

Powerflex ARB bushes

Janspeed exhaust manifold (if it gets welded up in time for next weekend)

Couple of other little bits - nothing exciting.

Then I need to sort out the brakes (R56S fronts going on) and fit my spare R56 rear trailing arms. I have GP shocks to go on until I can afford some decent road coilovers.

Lol.

If I decide to show the suspension stuff I'm working on it'll be a bit more interesting. Just funds are low

^ 5 speed

^ New Poweflex ARB bushes and put my SuperPro wishbone bushes in off the other car (still in incredible condition - this is the 3rd car these very bushes have been on and covered at least 70k miles!)

^ 6 speed on

Getting there. Too cold to work for long lol.

Finished the R50 off at the weekend. It's taken me ages - encountered one problem after another - that's the problem with a 10 year old car I guess. A lot of damaged parts on it from where it had been in a bit of a bump at some point in its life so I've replaced all that. Replaced the entire MFE panel as that was in bits held together with cable ties!

So I've fitted

R53 6 speed gearbox, drive shafts and starter motor, clutch slave cylinder, shift cables, shifter lug, my own solid shifter lug bushes, my own custom stainless gear knob;
Valeo single mass conversion flywheel and clutch;
Powerflex front ARB bushes (22.5mm Cooper bar);
Superpro front wishbone rear bushes;
OMP lower front brace;
R53 GP shocks with H&R 30mm lowering springs;
R56 alloy rear trailing arms;
17mm rear ARB (from a Cooper S, original was, 16mm);
Superpro rear ARB bushes;
Powerflex engine and gearbox mount bushes;
GTT (Janspeed) exhaust manifold with OEM catalytic converter.

Think that's it.

Going to fit my Eibach adjustable control arms as I have like 7 degrees of negative camber at the rear now lol.

Desperately needs alignment!

That should all be nice and tight now: how does it feel to drive a Cooper with the S ratios?

The composite panel I have machined to fit in place of the boot floor (cut it out as it was a bit rusty in the tool compartment) - I shall bond this in. It's very light and strong.

Test fit seats to fit harness eyes -
