Default Clutch bite ? - 28th February 2015, 04:02 PM

When I first got my R55 I thought the clutch was worn as it bites very far up, my car had only done 12k but the Mini dealer said it was fine. I just wondered where everyone else's clutch bites, is it near the floor or way far up like mine ?. I know the hydrolic clutch is not adjustable like the cable one but I really have to pull my foot right up from the floor I don't remember my last 2 Mini's being like this.

Clutches do tend to bite quite high up

I have a new Helix organic clutch and it's very low and much nicer

I have to say... My helix clutch was low for the first 1000 miles but now feels noticeably higher

Hmmmm done 7k on mine now and I'm sure it's still the same - I'll have a see tomorrow as it's easy to miss slow change

I remember when I had my Clubman, I asked the dealer about clutch as I thought it was high. They agreed and took out the clutch, couldn't see anything wrong and i got a new clutch under warranty - my mileage was about 20,000 from memory. I do sometimes think the same thing about the Countryman have at the minute.

I took mine to my dealer and they told me they couldn't find anything wrong with it, said the bite point was fine on it, even though I had test driven 2 other Mini's both which had low bite points so you were lucky then ajseymour as I didnt get a replacement clutch.

Just a suggestion but would it be worthwhile trying another dealer? I suppose it's one of those things that is hard to decide what is right and what is wrong as they all feel different.
