More info released,

Exclusive: MINI 2018 LCI Revealed - MotoringFile

- New design auto gear leavers (above), left design is dual clutch transmission for the One, Cooper/D/S. The right design is the 8 speed automatic for the Cooper SD and JCW due to the higher torque. It will work (and feel) in the same way as transmissions in the BMW.

- New MINI logo on both the front and rear bumper.

- New exterior trim pieces.

- New headlamps with the DRLs running all the way around the headlamps.

- New Union Jack LED rear lights and although an option it will be standard on the convertible.

- No major revisions on engines but will emit lower CO2.

- Chester Malt Brown interior (currently found on Convertible) to be available on 3 and 5 door hatch.

Like the gear selector "wand".
Can't work out quite what is happening re timing of release of updated JCW 3 door hatch given the info from MotoringFile says the 8 speed sport AT will be used from November 17 production. Does that mean it will get all the 2018 LCI updates early - or only some of the updates?

Want an automatic for a number of reasons. If the way the AT works with the MINI is coming closer to BMW then I think that's great. The set up of the 8 speed ZF AT in the 125i I had was the best automatic I've ever driven.

MINI have a tendency to stagger the launch of models in the same range, with the F56 3 door the Cooper, Cooper D (but all immediately recalled - we won't go there!), Cooper S all being released first with the Cooper SD and JCW following months later. With the order books still open on the existing model range I think we are looking at the Spring launch. Saying that, there are large stocks of unregistered MINIs sitting around with discounts at least 15% with pre registered attracting even more.

I’ve noticed the MINI website configurator has been updated with the new transmissions with the SD 3/5 door hatches only available with sports automatic and no more manuals along with Cooper S/JCW still being offered with a choice of manual/sports automatics. All sport automatics now have BMW style electronic gear levers.
