Default Brake problem - 23rd November 2013, 12:06 AM

Hi guys and girls,

I'm hoping someone will be able to help me on this.

I have a 2007 Cooper S and I've recently had all the brakes changed (discs and pads) after 4 weeks of driving the discs began to warp - the garage then changed me them FOC - job sorted!

INCORRECT!!!

It happened all over again, 4 weeks later warped discs.

Now the discs and pads fitted were APEX, which I'm sure most of you will have heard of. So I spoke to my Dad who said maybe try another garage and another brand, so I'm now on my 3rd set of discs and pads since June this year.

I had them replaced just over 6 weeks ago, but it hasn't been driven as often as it would have done, and now it's happening all over again. While these we're being fitted, the technician said the wishbone needed doing and the bushes, so I had them done too.

This time the brakes were Mintex if that makes any difference.

Do I need genuine discs from Mini or is there a problem with my car?

Please help

yes they were run in. it is taking approximately 700miles before i feel it in the brakes and steering wheel. My dad said it could be the callipers sticking but the garage said they checked them. Any other ideas?

What pads? If you drive hard, braking hard then stop and keep your foot on the brakes say at traffic lights, then you can get pad deposits melted to the disc. This is very often misdiagnosed as warped discs. Maybe you need some harder pads. Don't sit with your foot on the brakes if you discs are hot

i am 99% certain that my brakes don't get that hot as i don't drive the car that hard for them to be that hot. It is also very rare i leave my foot on the brake when stood still.
