It's my bible... over 1000 pages with detailed notes, pictures and diagrams! Have a gander at their pages on their website:

MINI Repair Manual - MINI Cooper, MINI Cooper S: 2002-2006 *-* Bentley Publishers - Repair Manuals and Automotive Books

Makes the Haynes manual look like a beginners guide

It does look good

Richard, you might be able to help me out with this one. How is the engine mounted? I can see the top mount on the left and I’m aware of two other mountings but unsure where they are, are they on the subframe? If so will I just need to support the engine with a jack?

Brilliant, i'm guessing the engine will be steady enough on the top two mounts for a couple of days as i dont want to leave the jack under it overnight.

I'll go and attack it now, I'm trying to avoid leaving up in the air without the wheels on overnight, if i remove the subframe, can i put the wheels back on and lower the car with just the suspension spring/strut in place and no wishbone?
