My DS MCS
![]() thought it was about time i got a picture up on here of my mcs! ive been reading these forums for a bit now and hardly posting so i thought i might have a chat! ive had it since september and have slowly started adding a few bits. On the outside ive added a CADES grille and on the inside ive fitted a GRS and a dave.f airbox. ![]() i think the next step is a pulley, what's best to go for 15% or 17%? also where does the crank pulley come into play? Also what would you do next in modding the MCS? I'm looking for bang for buck at the moment as im saving for a few jollys this year but give us your opinions whatever the cost.

Hrm, I feel a similar story coming on!!
Time to get posting!! I have a DS MCS (02) none of your fancy 54 plate malarky!! 17% pulley, without a doubt! Mine is being fitted in 2 weeks with a GRS motorsport edition IC. I have the DF airbox too. My stock brakes were awful so what you need is some decent brakes. JCW R53's or R56's are the way to go, depending on how much you want to spend. Best improvement I've made (OK I say that every time I make a change, but now I can actually stop!) Most people say a Crack pulley is a waste of time. B for your B you might as well buy a strut brace instead!! Do you just want power or handling, or a bit of both? Alastair

Re: My DS MCS
Ha ha DS is the best colour!
I've thought about brakes, Id prefer the full r53 jcw upgrade but I don't have that money just yet but I'm scouting round the classifieds all the time so if something like a strut brace comes up I'll get one anyway. So 17% it is then! What you reckon the car will be putting out with these mods? |

Well, I'm hoping mine will be pushing on 200-210ish with the mods on. Stock its was 164, so 1bhp over listed power!!
Depends on how powerful your car is to start! Alex MCS has the same mods but got to 230, but his was a strong car to start. I got my JCW R53 calipers about 6 months before I fitted them, took a while to save up for the hoses, mintex 1144's, discs and fluid!! Its all about keeping your eyes open for mods. I look on here, mini2 (not a good site!) SnM and mini torque. Always bits around as people return their cars to stock or upgrade

There's some R56 Cooper S brakes over on LMC complete with disks and pads for £300, these are the same as the R53 JCW brakes just not red!

you'd better join the DSOC in the community thread, and get yourself a number.
As Alistair says, go with the -17% reduced pulley, for torque, but don't forget new belt, colder spark plugs; you might also want to get the engine checked in advance and rolling road tested, to ensure everything's alright. Bang for buck, OMP braces are good, but don't forget the importance of lighter wheels and non-runflats. |
