Default New 1.5 all4 - 29th September 2017, 07:00 PM

Hi
Not been on here for a few years as we sold are last countryman when we go a caravan. After seeing the tow weights on the new countryman 1700 kg we are going to order one . We only do about 200 miles a year towing and with the wife only working 3 miles from home the big diesel we have doesn't like it . We looked at a cooper s but after driving the 1.5 petrol we are going for that . It's a great little engine that drives like a diesel with the low down pulling power.
Has anyone had any faults with one yet and what sort of mpg do you get running around town and on a run.
Thanks
Keith

Welcome back. I'm sure current owners will provide detailed feedback but reading the post below shows the fuel consumption to be impressive.

Picnic anybody?

My advice is to shop around, massive discounts at the mo with at least £5k knocked off the list price.

Current
2013/13 Mini Roadster 2.0 Cooper SD.
2016/16 Mini Countryman 2.0 Cooper SD All4.

Thanks for the reply. I have been offered 3700 off but if you have any contact details i would give them a go .They need to be offering the discount as the retail price on these is well over priced.

I've used these sites with quotes provided by franchised dealer groups. Spec your MINI, secure the discounted price and ask you local dealer to match. In most cases they will but if they don't want to play ball, source it through these websites where you speak directly to the dealer and no third party.

Alternatively, there are 'MINI UK' cars for sale, these have been used as display cars or by employees at their HQ. These is a batch of high spec CM Cooper ALL4 on the MINI cherished website with only delivery mileage of 10 miles on the clock with discounts up to £7k. Well worth looking at these too, you will be the second owner but very good value for money and they are spotless, my previous Countryman was sourced through MINI UK. An example below:

Hi Keithhack,
Like you I went for the 1.5 petrol Cooper - not the All4 as when the weather gets bad I don't want all the loonies out there using my new bodywork as a brake so will get the bus to work.

I have only had mine a couple of weeks and it has only been used on short runs to and from work, about 7 miles each way. It's up and down hill all the way so I cannot as yet give an indication of a motorway run. I filled up the tank on day one and it is still showing about half full. I have covered just over three hundred miles and the car is showing an average of 35.5

I also decided against the diesel due to the type of use it will get. Up to now I am very pleased and know I made the right choice, for me at least, by going petrol. Although its a long way from being run in, it is a peppy little motor and a real pleasure to drive.

Faults - none as yet.

Also went for the 1.5 petrol, great little engine, mines an auto, and only 2wd so the 6 speed Aisin gearbox.

Iíve seen 50mpg on a couple of runs, but late 30ís, early 40ís seem to be par for the course in town, way better than my wifeís 1.6 Auto R60
