Icon6 Countryman audio - Upgraded - 6th January 2014, 10:19 PM

We can now offer a full upgrade for the Countryman & Paceman
As MINI now have woofers under the seats we can no longer hide our amplifier under there so it is under the false floor in the boot.
720 watt amp.
The rear door speakers were replaced with 2 way coaxials
The front doors we have replaced with mid ranges & on this car are fitting our tweeters into some HK mirror inserts (as soon as they land)
Alternatively we can fit 2 way coaxials up front
The plastics have been sound deadened
Under the seats we have upgraded the woofers from 6" to 8"

I've used the car for probably an hour tops since picking this up from Mikey yesterday, and I could tell immediately that it's a million times better than the standard set up, and it's not even complete yet. As Mikey says I'm missing the front tweeters at the moment as we're waiting on the HK pillar covers from Germany, so at the moment the whole thing isn't fully set up.

When I bought the car I have to admit that I thought the standard set up was a an improvement over the systems in my previous MINIS, except those with HK. The issue I did have though was lack of clarity with the it sounding muffled & muddy at any sort of volume.

Obviously conveying the improvements online without sound is difficult, but I think the follwoing pictures probably go a long way to explaining it. Just look at the difference between the speakers going in compared to the cardboard ones coming out, night and day.

Anyway thank you to Mikey for all his efforts over the last 4-5 days of research and development, I don't think he was expecting such a big task if I'm honest, MINI seem to have gone out of their way to make it difficult.

Will report back with more once the install is fully complete.

Looks fantastic guys, thanks for sharing!

I just took delivery of my R60 a few days ago and haven't really played with the audio yet, but I did set the treble to max as it was sounding a bit muted up there to me.

The false floor has a hand hole in front of the lock mechanism. Pull that up and it hinges around a point half way back. Once in this position pull it towards you and it'll pull out in the same way as the parcel shelf does, it's the same fixing mechanism.
