Had a CM 1.6 petrol courtesy car last week for a couple of days and it was showing an average of 31mpg. My CM sD is getting around 42-44mpg

Only if you drive like a saint and a slow saint at that. The official mpg figure includes no driving over 56mph and not much over 40mph.

Thanks guys. So if I get around 40mpg I'm doing ok. Just wanted to know so I can make sure I'm achieving a normal figure for the car.

id guess you wont get close to that unless there is no in town driving. Even then it will be a push.

I am averaging 30 MPG(I) after one month with my Countryman petrol 1.6 turbo (low-output, not the S) ALL4 automatic. I am actually quite pleased with this result given the notoriously bad traffic here.

I think high 30's average In a petrol cooper is what I'd expect to be honest, I saw mid 40s on a run but that was taking it easy.

Do you have a petrol cooper? I'm getting mid to high 30's but very new engine with less than 400 miles on it at the mo!
