Default Music playing in my MINI - 21st August 2014, 12:57 PM

Hey guys,

Have a 62 plate countryman with mini connected.

I managed to play audio through bluetooth, but it is really bad quality, have any of you noticed this? If so how do you get round it? I can get the album info on screen through a USB cable, but no sound? :/

Do I need a dreaded y-cable?

I'm guessing you're using an iphone?

USB cable in the mini will only transfer data not sound. Hence the reason you're getting the album info

You will want the y-cable. 45 official or if you're prepared to gamble, around 8 for an unofficial one off Ebay.

I have an unofficial one, audio comes through fine, but no album artwork.

Awesome. If you have the visual boost radio/Sat nav built in you can update the blu tooth software on the minis computer which improves phone compatibility.

Sure

First you need to go here: MINI.com - MINI Connectivity and download the latest version of the software.

Next you need to copy that software on to a pen drive.

Now the hard part - get up out of your comfy office chair and drag yourself out to your lovely mini. If you have forgotten your mini car keys, stand and admire your mini. Then go back inside and fetch the keys.

Once you've successfully opened the car, Get comfy in said mini.

Next insert the pen drive with the updated software into the USB slot located just in front of the gear stick.

Then insert key into ignition. Once the screen has fired up navigate to "Settings".

Inside "Settings' scroll down to "Update Software"

Click on that and follow the onscreen instructions. It should detect the data on the pen drive and begin installing the new updated software.

Once complete bask in the warm fuzzy glow of completing one of the minis easiest mods.

remember to lock car when going back inside.
