Icon3 Can I switch my 2012 coupe normal headlights for xenons - 7th April 2014, 09:02 PM

Hey,

Just purchased a 2012 cooper coupe with the normal headlamps.

Just curious if I can just switch them out for xenon headlamps or would there be any extra wiring or new fixtures I would have to fit?

Any help appreciated

not 100% sure about the coupe but for a R56 mini, there is a retro fit kit from mini but it is ver expensive, as it involves quite a lot of work, including levelling mechanism over rear wheels and washer jets etc,

But it can be done, the question is more for how much...

The 25w systems is a straight forward fit, and because its 25w and not 35w it does not require washers or leveling system.
The 25w system is available for all 2nd gen cars.

I heard that they are about £800 a pair and take around 1 hour to install.

Not All 2nd GEN Cars - I wanted these for mine (May09) but because of a change in the BCM they can only be fitted to Post SEPT 09 Cars. Chris @ Lloyds confirmed this
