upgrade to 3 spoke leather or alcantara wheel
I'm running a 2006 R53 with the so-called "classic" two spoke wheel.
It feels nice, but is a bit fugly to look at. It's not a multifunction steering wheel, and I'm not looking for that. How much do these cost to buy and install from the dealers? And what do I need to know in order to DIY? Is there a market for the old wheel and airbag? |

Buying new from the dealers will bankrupt you!! about £400+ for wheel and airbag. I would look for the wheel second hand and airbag from the dealer. Thats what I did. Fitting is easier than putting milk on ya cornflakes.
Disconnect battery, leave back door open! Unscrew old airbag and disconnect it....leave it a long way from the car....just in case it goes off! Unscrew the steering wheel (ensuring that the wheel is totally level) - Would recommend using a permanent marker to mark the upright position of the wheel. Reverse the process. EASY!

Thanks Moley, maybe I can get a new wheel from Mikey at New Mini Stuff, if one doesn't pop up on here or MT in the reasonably near future, order a new airbag from my local dealer, and fit it myself, as you say. Good one.
We have a really nice MOMO wheel on the Subaru, and it's been niggling at me for quite a while now that the S is so underwhelming, so maybe the time has come - after all, the wheel is the ultimate touch point on your car... |

Ah, oops, I must have misread your post, as I thought this had been sold. If it's still available, let me know and I'll make you an offer by PM. You haven't put up a price for the springs, do you have a price in mind? If it's easier, delivery can be made to London - I still have an address there. tcbw |
