UJ early R53 S Audio options...? - 10th October 2016, 03:47 PM

Hi all,

I have an early R53 non digi climate and no MFSW.

Looking on the net, options for single din units are slim..... seems like they have gone backwards in terms of looks for single din items since the early 2000's

What do peeps have out there? i'm an apple junky and would like iphone connectivity etc..

Any help appreciated.

R50 can be fitted with an aux-in in place of the CD changer. It uses the same connector on the back of the head unit.

If you look on realoem you will find the cable kit for it, IIRC they are c25.

I kept the original headhunt and fitted a Parrot 9000 bluetooth unit to stream audio from my phone. It keeps the original look. I didn't need the Parrot control panel either as it integrates with my MFSW. If you don't have that you could fit the control panel somewhere discreet.

I had a 2004 R50 and fitted a lovely sound system into it, so you upgrade big time.
As with anything, it's down to how much money you have to spend.
I now have a 2013 R56 JCW and it's much more of a pain to improve the sound system I'm unlikely to bother.
In all fairness, it has the H/K system fitted with is not that bad.

I have a Kenwood KDC-BT48DAB in my R53. Cost about 150 on eBay with the loom, aerial, microphone and a remote. Has BT audio and USB inputs.
