Default R56 prone to steaming up when parked ? - 27th December 2013, 05:51 PM

I was wondering wether the glass is a bit thin as opposed to my 1 series and 3 series as all 3 can be parked side by side and the Mini always steams up with changes in temperature ?

No leaks etc or damp anywhere, any ideas ?

Daily drive BMW F21 125d M sport H8 Auto - New M135i on order eta June 14.

there must be moisture somewhere for it to condense on the glass, maybe its not enough to feel through the carpet etc, and it could just be moisture on the inner roof or something?

No problems for me, what heater settings have you?

If on recirculating it will stop fresh outside air getting in!

I leave air con switched on and the vents on the screen setting. I'll check the roof lining although no sun roof etc so hopefully no issues there.
I'll have a good feel around again as I also get the occasional whiff of a fishy smell, odd as both myself and last owner are non smokers.

Beginning to think must have a water ingress somewhere, any common places to look ?

I leave air con off.....

Boot and assume youve tried all the carpets?

on the nearside of the screen (under where the tax disc goes) there is a drainage hole, not sure where it drains to but could be blocked and letting water in?

I had this a couple of weeks bck & couldn't find any leaks etc & clears quickly when use the heater. The only thing I could think for me is you leave your body heat in here & when the car gets colder the residual heat makes it condensate if that makes sense
My only other thought is have you checked your windows are fully up?
