Default R56 Cruise Control - 29th April 2014, 08:47 PM

I have a couple of questions regarding the cruise control on the R56.

- Is it supposed to maintain speed when the car is going down a gradient?

- Is it possible to increase/decrease the speed in larger than 1 mph increments, 5 mph steps for example?

- Any ideas why it might loose a speed? A couple of weekends ago I was on my way back from Silverstone, doing between 70-75 mph on cruise control and was increasing and decreasing it to maintain a gap to the cars in front. It then lost 74 mph, so went from 73 to 75 and back.

The cruise on both the Minis I've had has worked well. It will hold speed down a gradient until the gradient is steep enough that even a shut throttle won't prevent the car picking up speed - I presume that is addressed by the cruise+brake function that has been included in the F56.

I've never seen mine jump more than 1mph up or down, but then the steering wheel control is a pretty crappy switch, so it wouldn't surprise me if the switch was signalling two 'presses' when you were only pushing it once. My second Mini requires a really firm press to switch on the cruise, something the first one didn't, so I conclude the switches are a bit 'random'.

As above, going down a steep hill in 6th then you may exceed cruise set speed as throttle alone can't slow the car.

All 4 one...
