Default CD changer and channel swap - 7th May 2014, 10:26 PM

So I want a bit more depth to the sound in the car so I'm going to order the channel swap loom, all nice and straight forwards so far.
Does it make much difference?

My spec sheet says I have a cd changer preparation? What does this mean? If I but a changer is all the wiring there already, just plug and play?
And if so where does it live?

Sorry for all the questions!

Channel swap is a good start and will make a difference.
You can easily swap the rear 6x9 too if you feel adventurous.
As for cd prep if I am correct it lives behind the secret compartment.

So be prepared to go hunting

Could look like this.

Channel swap makes a massive improvement on the stock install imo. If your budget will allow it however, get the front pillar tweeters as well as it will help bring the sound back to the front and lift it. I had the Channel swap loom in our previous R56, but when I heard others with the tweeters as well .... ! Money well spent!

I totally agree with the above post, I've just done the A pillar tweeter and channel swap and it's transformed the sound.

+1
I did the channel swap, which did help but when I put the tweeters in the a-pillars it really made a huge improvement.
The only thing that panics me is I forget that the satnav voice comes from behind me now, and when it says something after being quiet for a while I get a shock

Hang on a minute lads, I've got a great idea! Errrr.......
