MINI Icon Hot Choc Clubman Door speakers, what are my options? - 6th June 2014, 05:58 PM

Hi everyone, i I'm upgrading my audio in my clubbie with an amp kit from mikey. i already have some Kenwood 6 x 9s for the rears, but have no idea what will fit in the doors. anyone have any pics or info of what will fit? I've changed the OEM head unit from my 57b plate clubbie to a 2012 Lci one with DAB, bluetooth and usb as the original didn't have BT or USB.

Cheers

Ady

Just about any 6.5" component set. I did have Focal 165V2's I have just removed and replacing with Focal PS165F3. There lowest speaker position will take a 6.5", the mid way speaker position will take a some 3.5" midranges and if you are serious get the a-pillar trim to put your tweeters up higher. Check the size of the crossover box as there is limted room inside the door itself for a crossover, best place is in the armrest. It is easy to pull off the armrest trim (there are no screws) to measure.

I went with a Hertz comp up front, 6.5s in the lower door and the for the 4" in the upper door I pulled the paper cones out and glued my tweeters into the basket at a 45 degree angle for a nice sound stage, sounds great and no having to relocate tweeters.

how did you get the USB and Bluetooth to work?

was it plug and play??

I have always wanted USB but thought the retro fit kit from mini was the only way
