Default R56 Headlights - 16th July 2014, 08:26 PM

Right, I will try and explain this in a clear way haha

My first question. Did they only do the R56 xenon headlights with the black inside on LCI?

How do I know if mine has the LCI ballasts?

If I buy the headlight, minus the bulbs and ballasts, can I just transfer them across?

Many thanks

Harry

d but mostly lci I've seen

Here's how to tell the differnce between the ballast

NOTE LCI & PRE LCI ARE DIFFERNT

If you have a pre-LCI car the ballasts on the newer headlights are different and your old ones will not fit.

I quote from another TM member below

I had being want to go for the black xenon headlight look for some time and was considering doing the Joey mod. Howver, I was then lucky enough to pick up a pair of OEM black Xenons complete with their all important ballasts.

The reason it was important to get the lights with the balasts is because the LCI cars have a different ballast unit to the pre-LCI cars. Therefore, you cannot simply transfer your existing ballasts over to the new lights and the cost of new ballasts is about 500 for a pair

Here is the pre-LCI ballast on my original lights:

I've seen this post before dawn. Still getting confused though. As the new lights don't have the ballasts.

They came off a 2010 mini cooper. Will get a pic up later. Mine is a 2011 JCW clubby so i imagine that would have LCI ballasts?
