Default GP2 rear wing - 29th August 2013, 09:28 AM

To be up front up front this is highly speculative post as I'm not sure I'll ever get around to this midification.

It's clearly very costly and I have the red roof so I would need to source the colour coded roof end part (less the JCW wing) but propose keeping the GP2 wing black.

The other issue is that I don't currently have privacy glass and I've been told that because GP's come with privacy glass mini would not supply a clear glass rear so this potentially means adding to the expense of having side privacy glass fitted or switching the glass in the back window.

I suppose all this boils down to two questions at the moment:

1. I've seen the Orranje g-wing but I've heard mixed reviews about these. I'd appreciate any first hand experiences with this bit of kit as this would save me lots of readies.

2. Has anyone here brought and fitted the GP2 wing to a JCW or any other mini for that matter, or specced the GP2 wing with another mini if this is actually possible. If so, I'd be keen to know how they got on?

Many thanks in advance for considering all this.

Jamie.

the gp2 rear wing is mega costly, i dont think anyone has done it yet so could be a first.

The G-wing would be the better option tbh although they are fairly common.

i guess its upto you, if cost isnt an issue then go GP2 as it sits better and flush compared to the G-wing. although with your red roof you would need to colour code the little lip part.

i would go G-wing and save the pennies for something else....

mini has gone.......I will be back!

It's not jut the wing you need to buy, its also the rear glass as the fixing points are part of the rear glass

Total cost is about 2500 iirc.

Many thanks Scrounger.

That figure also does not take into account the fact the the roof part that comes with the wing is black and will either need to be re-sprayed red or I'll have to change roof colour with a paint job or wrap and then possibly the wing mirrors, oh and labour etc!

Very,very spendy indeed!

This might all be just unworkable given the cost.

Not a worthwhile mod mate to be honest

Way too expensive even if it looks good

I would go with the g-wing, much cheaper and the latest ones are very tidy.

Thanks all, totally agree that this is almost certainly too cost prohibitive way to go.

Can anyone put me onto a trust worthy source to fit a g-wing, Surrey/Sussex/kent areas? 1320 will do it but it's not that close.

Also I'm struggling to find the part name and number that I'll need to source to finish off the roof once the JCW spoiler is removed any help appreciated on this also.

tweedbean - Many thanks for this as I'd heard that some of the earlier g-wing's weren't that great and one or two people have had problems with the boot not be properly aligned once fitted.

I have spoken to Orrange and been advised that these come gel coated, by their own admission reasonably well finished but not perfect and that they recommend that they are painted.

I'd go with the Orranjje G-wing and get it properly painted and installed
