Default Stainless steel cat back system - 6th November 2013, 05:45 PM

I have recently purchased a stainless steel cat back exhaust system. I have had it fitted, however it doesn't make any noise. All my older car have had stainless system and always the a deeper tone, even just replacing the back boxes. I'm not annoyed as I am older now and don't want a continuous drone on the motorway. My question is should it burble, does it need a time to bed in, or can you just have silent, stainless systems????

It's a direnza, came off a company from eBay. My factory exhaust had rusted through so decided to go down the stainless route.

How bizarre !!!! Just posted a thread about these exhausts over on MT.
Take a look
Anyone had one of these exhausts?
There's a video of one fitted on there making plenty of noise. I'm sure it shouldn't be really quiet.
If it is I won't be buying one. Lol.

To be fair, there has been a few people saying it's not great. I think the build quality is good, I've seen systems for 500+ and I can't afford that. The mechanics said it was easy to fit. It has got louder as I've driven it a it more. For the money I would recommend it.

Interesting. I want to change our exhaust for a stainless item, not for noise but for power. If I made it loud the missus wouldn't be impressed!

Yeah to be honest it's fairly quiet on tick over. If you rev it, you'll get some burble and a little popping, no loud drone, but fairly subtle, you can here it when you reach 3,000 rpm, as I don't drive really fast I haven't gone over that yet, would def recommend.
