Default Is wrapping a crap idea for protection. - 10th March 2014, 12:15 AM

Im doing loads of miles and already have a fair few stone chips considering its 5 months old. While not really bad so far I cant help feel that with the miles im doing it will ruin the car.

The high mileage wont be for ever, and likely to be low mileage in the future, but i dont want to end up with a car that has seen better days cosmetically.

I love polishing my car, and i was never into the matt look, but am thinking the lower half would look good wrapped and protect my paint for this year or so...

Especially if i could get a wrap similar to black frost or something like that.

Any thoughts?

I suppose that would be the best option for the front.

Im not sure id rust myself to do a good job of it.

it is probably hard to do without practice, fire off a few emails to wrap/ tinting palces in your area to see if anyone can help at a reasonable price?

After watching a "pro" do mine there is no way on earth I would attempt it.

TBH my hubby's MINI has it and mine doesn't as I too like to polish my car, and after a couple of years I am still not convinced of its value.

Whilst there are a few less stone chips in the front bumper particularly, there are still some chips that have gone through the bra to the paint. I don't know if they would have been worse without it though.

He had his done straight after getting the front end resprayed though and I wouldn't bother if you've been driving it a few months and have some stone chips already. IMHO.

I have a ventureshield wrap on the front of mine. Have had my last three cars done and not a single stone chip or scratch to bonnet, bumper, roof above windscreen, mirrors or load area on top of rear bumper. Would recommend.

Just let it get what's coming to it, youll get marks on it either way but nothing some chip up paint wont resolve. I've owned cars that have 140k> mainly motorways and besides a couple of chips on the bonnet you cant tell!
