Default R56 Front Bumper Painting - 30th March 2014, 09:15 PM

Has anyone else had a bad experience with their front bumper becoming speckled with stone chips? I've never known the Germans to paint something so badly!! Need my whole front end re-sprayed as I'm far too OCD. Will get it wrapped in clear vinyl to help protect it. Maybe this time the paint won't be sprayed on so thin a large bug can damage it!

Default R56 Front Bumper Painting - 31st March 2014, 11:25 AM

Another OCD person and I thought it was just me, I have just brought a FJCW and the thought of getting a stone chip was driving me mad so I got paint protection film fitted to mine. I did the complete front bumper and just under half the bonnet but I'm thinking about getting all the bonnet done now. Have a look at the picture and see if you can see it.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1396265616.056978.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1396265627.791074.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1396265647.144574.jpg

I'm glad its not just me either! The rear of my side skirts were chipped and damaged when I bought the car and I had them re-sprayed and wrapped to prevent it happening again. I was so impressed that I could not see the clear vinyl. But my front bumper has always been a priority of mine to get re-sprayed and didn't get it done at the same time as the body shop talked me out of it due to cost. My OCD has gotten the better of me and quoted 300 + 100 for the vinyl. Not shopped around but doesn't seem THAT bad a price Will be more like 800 for the whole front end and new bonnet stripes.

Thanks Phil!!! I will be giving that a go. Never heard of it before and if it works I owe you a large drink. I know cars will always be chipped but my bumper is a joke. I had a 3 Series as a loan car for 9 weeks while Chandlers changed a 30 part... long story. Was mint condition only 200 miles on it and drove it like an asshat. Could hear the stones hitting the front end but after handing it back with a few thousand extra on the clock, still nothing! Only a chip on the windscreen. I drive 150 miles to Basingstoke and back on Saturday and can find 2 dozen new chips
