Default Cooper D/Sports Exhaust - 21st May 2014, 09:22 PM

Had my Coopered for a few days now but im thinking of changing the exhaust for something a bit louder.

I have spoken to a few people who have recommended a straight through pipe from manifold back but i'm unsure if it will fail an M.O.T or not.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Much Appreciated in advance

Without a cat it will fail the nct here in Ireland, im assuming the mot is the same, there should be guidelines online id imagine. It'd be fairly loud with a straight pipe from the manifold back, like a tractor id think.. Although I cant say ive heard a dooper with a straight pipe before..

I don't think the cat will be an issue. It's more the DPF I'm worried about. I know it will defiantly fail the mot without it as it is a 2008 so has to be there. Just wondering if the DPF will make any difference to the noise

Is it a case you just want the exhaust a bit louder? Do you want more spooling and blow off noise? If u was decatting I'd probably remove the dpf too, hassle putting it back in for the mot I know, but I'd get a remap too to make the most of the changes.

A remap is definitely on the cards in the near future. Spoke to my local garage today. They said leave the DPF on but run the exhaust straight through. They don't strip them when it comes to an mot so it would only be a visual inspection. May just do that instead.

A fried took his power flow and had got manifold back a few weeks ago on a fabia tdi and I must admit, it does sound nice

Would be interesting to hear what a dooper sounds like. I toyed with the idea of doing the same, a straight pipe in my one d because I wanted some turbo sound, but decided against it because I was afraid I'd make a tractor out if it..

I've heard a few loud diesels now - a guy on my street has a modified fiesta diesel and that sounds awesome. I'm also looking for the SD but like others don't want to make a tractor out of it (it already sits like one).

There's no denying a loud diesel can sometimes sound nice! Love those golfs that make the coo sound when the turbo stalls, even if it is ever so slightly damaging! Just do t think the one d would be up to it!
