Icon5 Windscreen Crack - 20th April 2013, 03:50 PM

After washing my Mini today, I have found a 15cm ish crack at the top on my windscreen, just to the right of the rear view mirror, if you were looking at the car from the front. Not entirly sure how this has happened, as I can see a chip or anything...

So my question is, with regards to a replacement windscreen, what stories have you all had regarding this, and Auto Glass? Do they do a good job? Can I get a genuine BMW windscreen? Also, are any bits easily damaged when they replace the screens?

I have had autoglass replace three windscreens on minis..common thing unfortunately and they did a really good job using proper bmw windscreen..the one replaced by sytners bmw in coventry was bodged however as they failed to replace the packing on the two frontpillars so it whistled like a kettle above forty miles an hour..so yep autoglass did a good job on my mini one and clubbie screens..

I've had Autoglass replace a windscreen on both my convertible and last cooper as part of my insurance cover. Fitted genuine MINI parts and no problems whatsoever.

Thanks for all your replies so far, I've just been told that National Windscreens will be doing it, as they are the approved insurers. Any think to look out for from them?

Don't know anyone who's used them but must be as good as others I'd think...

Hmmm, okay. Well, going to phone my insurance company in the morning, and see if they can sort me out a BMW screen for next week.

As I said earlier it's the fitter that makes the job or not......
