Default Usb - 27th March 2016, 07:17 PM

I had a load of albums on my usb working fine in the car.

Had to use the usb for something else so I deleted the music, and had to format it. That job is now done and I put all the music back on the usb but now the car doesnt even register the usb!

Whats gone wrong?

thanks

What format did you format the stick as? Most likely needs to be FAT32.

How big is your memory card?
What are you using in the car to play your mp3's?

I mean what headunit do you have. Nevermind, you have an R56, so it'll be the stock MINI unit.

Windows will only format USB memory sticks/cards to FAT32 if they're 32GB or smaller. So you'll need to create partitions.

Instructions here...
How to Partition a memory card or a USB drive

Or use the FAT32Format tool here...
Ridgecrop Consultants Ltd

No idea how you managed to play them before, as I've searched and apparently the MINI will only play memory cards/sticks that ARE FAT32.

It mustve been FAT32 originally?
I had to format it before I used it for the other job I was doing and just did a standard format on windows
