Default Non-Genuine Black Xenons, anyone any experience of them? - 7th May 2018, 09:53 AM

I like the look of the factory black R55/56 Xenons sadly mine are stock silver

Option 1) I could joey mod my current set but as its a daily driver I can't be without headlights for a period of time

Option 2) buy a set of silver lights and joey mod, but I'm a lazy ****

Option 3) buy a genuine black set alas my pockets aren't that deep

Option 4) there some non-genuine sets on the market which look identical to the OEM parts and are insurance approved which seems my best option

Has anyone any experience of these non OEM black units?
What is the quality like?
If you have a set how have they lasted with daily wear and tear?

I tend to find with some non OEM headlights, the lense turns cloudy yellow after awhile. My suggestion is to source used OEM black headlights and rather than buy a set for around 300, buy individually with some starting from 80, once installed, sell your silver lights as a set. We have black versions on both our MINIs with the set on the Roadster being the oldest (it will reach its fifth birthday next month) and they remain mint.
