Default Non-resonated Vs Resonated Exhaust - What to go for? - 24th February 2015, 08:19 PM

Ok, had my Cooper S R56 now for about a year and thinking about getting a new exhaust. The question is, what to go for??

I am looking for a few more burbles and pops but nothing too bass heavy. I was thinking:
  • Milltek
  • Piper
  • Quicksilver
  • JCW Factory/Stage 1

Does anyone have any recommendations at all?? Also, should I go for resonated or non-resonated? I have looked at YouTube - hard to get a real idea of sound though due to phone mics being mainly used...

Cheers

I had a fjcw but found it too poppy for me , and pretty loud, being an old fart I don't want everyone gawking at me doing the school run ! Now have a resonated milltek and it is perfect for me , nice deep tone with a nice burble and the odd pop on over run . Depends what you want but milltek got my vote .

I have an R56S with a FJCW backbox and a milltek sports cat
IMO it is just right - quiet when you want it to be, loud when on boost and you can play the pops and bangs like a tune

It passes mots (with an extended test) and frees up the flow which is a bonus with a remap

When your sitting at 70 it's fine got used to it, when ur accelerating you get a small amount but once you stop its not that bad

Cheers all! My mate has a Milltek on his Audi RS4 and that sounds incredible. Must say pretty tempted. Well I will be buying one in the near future so will get back with a vid perhaps

Another vote for fJCW -with a sports cat DP if possible

I would be interested to hear about the Piper as I like their stuff but haven't tried one on the R56.

I would go for a resonated version of whatever you go for.

+3 for the fjcw with sports cat I had that setup on my old R56. If I was doing it again I'd go for a piper there exhausts are very well made!
