Icon9 Runflat tyres making car unusable - 25th January 2016, 09:04 PM

I had some new runflat tyres fitted (front) the other day by an independent retailer. On inspecting the rear tyres he advised me that they are badly out of shape and need replacing (they are 3 months old and have 5 to 6mm of tread)

There is a slight vibration and it will only get worse until the car is unusable or I replace the tyres.

He also advised me that this will happen again with any new tyres that I fit and this is a problem that can happen with runflats.
The problem is therefore not fixable?

He told me that it isn't the wheel balancing.

So all I can do is scrap the car for pennies?

It is a 2007 Mini Cooper Diesel.

What shape are they then?

Flat?

Extensive mods to my Hyper Blue Cooper S Convertible:
Magic Tree air freshener; Road map moved from back of driver's seat to glove box; FUN plates; SmartTOP roof control; Chrome mirrors; Chrome bonnet scoop; Chrome boot handle and hinges; Chrome spotlights; Chrome air vents; Chrome door buttons; Chrome number plate surrounds; Chrome instruments and switches; Chrome gear knob and handbrake grip; Chrome pen in glove box; Chrome dust caps on front wheels (not sure about the back wheels - don't want to overdo it)
to dechroming. Keep it Chrome and Classy

this just doesn't make sense, unless your 'new' tyres have been sitting on a shelf since 2006...
