Default Good Exhaust brackets?! - 2nd July 2015, 02:05 PM

So I swapped to a scorpion exhaust last year time and I've got through 2 sets of OEM brackets, doesn't anyone know a good pair of brackets for heavier exhausts for an R50, any help would be great

The exhaust mounts are woefully inadequate and always seem to fail with depressing regularity, follow any Gen.1 MINI down the road and an awful lot of them seem to have crooked or low hanging rear silencers! Worth checking the two centre mounts too they're also pretty useless.

When I replaced my rear silencer and mounts I put two layers of thick rubber cut from an exhaust strap between each hanger and the metal loop around the mounting and secured them in place with a couple of thin cable ties on each mount to give far better and more rigid support to the exhaust silencer, not had any problems with vibration or such and no more broken exhaust hangers!

Yep, tiny bit of fast driving on a country lane, hit a pothole and one of my brackets gave way. Bit of welding did mine but how long it'll last will be the question. I'll be watching this.
