Default 04 cooper Handbrake problem - 19th April 2016, 05:59 PM

Hi, im working away from home and get a call from the mrs telling me shes knackered the handbrake*wrecks my head coz I cant see it*
She says that it used to hold after 2 clicks. now something has gone and shes getting over 5 clicks and she says that the rear drivers side drops when the hand brake holds. So im thinking that the cable has snapped or became detatched from the rear/pass side caliper.
Just guessing....
Any one able to shed some light on what could be happening or what to look for.
Thanks

Update::
she sent me a photo and the handbrake cable has snapped off the pass/side rear caliper.
Any idea how much that would cost to replace?? many thanks

From memory the cable's are about 60 each - you'll probably want to do both sides at the same time, though you might get away with just replacing the one. Exhaust off, heat shield off, handbrake console off - if you aren't doing it yourself, what's that - 2 hours labour?
