Icon8 cold start/idle issue on 2009 Mini Cooper S R56 N14 - 22nd April 2015, 09:16 PM

Hi Guys,

New to this forum and was hoping someone could help!

girlfriend has a problem whereby when she starts the car from cold, it dies unless she revs it constantly, however once it's going/warm it's fine.

Aside from a new engine this year, the car has..
a full stainless exhaust
uprated downpipe with sports cat
aem intake
intercooler
and evolve remap.

the car has been to BMW and other garages multiple times and usually they say they
a) cant find a problem
b) suspect it's a sensor etc. which they replace with no success.
c) say it's due to the car being modified/remapped (even though the car did this prior to the remap, so that rules that out!)

after reading the forums, I am sure it could be down to the HPFP. is there any garages/specialists in the south east/kent area that people could recommend to rectify/diagnose this issue?!

or if someone could give any further advice that would be amazing!

thanks
Jonny

Sounds like hpfp to me, do you have a scangauge to test fuel rail pressure?

Alternative would be a Bluetooth OBD adapter and an android phone with torque app

AWG in camberley have a good rep on MT

brilliant guys, thanks.

also on a side note, didnt bmw offer a free warranty replacement at some point as long as the car under 100k miles or 10 years old? is this still the case? (i will call bmw tomorrow to confirm anyways)
