I've not considered one of these before, but now that I've ordered an alcantara JCW wheel, it occurred to me to reconsider the other touch point on my MINI.

What's the damage in USD for a Whalen knob?

And how do you come up with a design? I drive a 2006 R53, but I think it would still need the H-pattern and R (the last time 'someone else' drove it, she came back complaining that it was noisy on the motorway, but that's because she didn't put it into 6th).

If I don't have to pay for graphics help with the design, the engraved ones sell for $150.00 USD + $10.00 for Air Mail shipping.

If the design is too complex for me to draw up (i.e. cartoon characters, etc), I need a DXF file of it, which I can program from.

With the complex stuff, I typically have to work from an image file.
If I send an image file to my graphics fellow, I pay him $20.00 to convert it to DXF format, then I simply pass that charge along to the customer.

I don't know anything about the various MX5 versions, but I've made a few knobs similar to this.

Hi Doug - have emailed you a design - hope it arrived OK, and in the correct format?

Sorry, Ian; busy day yesterday.

I just e-mailed you a picture of the Lion, scaled to fit onto the ball as large as practical. I think it needs a little tweaking, but it's very promising.
